Over the past wedding season, Claire has assisted me on almost every wedding I’ve shot. It’s her birthday today and I want to say a VERY BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY and also thank her for everything she has done to make my life easier, calmer and lots more fun over this last wedding season! So here goes..
I can’t believe my baby sister, Amy, is getting married! I still think of her as a rosy cheeked blonde toddler! Here’s a quick snap I took yesterday of her and her Fiance, Ryan, for their save the date.. Aren’t they sweet?
When we first stepped foot outside Phuket International Airport and were assaulted by the unbelievable heat and humidity, I wondered if that holiday in snowy Niew Bathesda would have been a better idea.
12 massages, a few fresh fruit shakes and a rather orange looking tan later I am happy to report that sunny Phuket was exactly what the doctor ordered!

As a kid, nothing was more exiting for me than accompanying my mother to collect photographs from the chemist once they had been developed. It’s that same excitement I feel just after I’ve taken a photograph on my new Fuji Instax mini 25… Although waiting for the photograph to develop in front of my very eyes is a little cooler! Watching shapes and colours come on life on a credit card size photo within seconds still seems like magic to me.
I’m big on weekends away with friends!
When I was looking at places to book for a birthday weekend away with five of my girlfriends, I came across Christine and Nicola’s post on The Pretty Blog about Die Laaitjie. I picked up the phone immediately and booked! It was the perfect place to kick back and relax. We drank wine, enjoyed long lazy dinners, had facials (thanks Kayleigh!) and even did a beautiful hike up to the most majestic waterfall!
It’s always a treat when my friend, Andrea, gets the keys to her family’s holiday cottage by the sea.
Andrea invited a few of us to spend the weekend with her in Simonstown this weekend. It was a most welcomed break.
The wooden cottage on the water, Holdall, is beautifully rustic and unashamedly simple. My kick-ass photographer friend, Wesley Vorster, sent me home from Johannesburg last weekend with his beloved tilt and shift lens to borrow for a few weeks (how lucky am I!?) and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try it out!
I think this is the longest the blog has gone without any lovin’ and I’m totally guilty of neglect in the first degree. Life has been a little crazy lately to say the least – family weddings, moving house, planting herb gardens and all sorts of wild and wonderful shoots.
I attended a special kind of wedding 8 weeks ago – as a guest might I add! My sister’s wedding. Although I was in fact a bridesmaid at this wedding and not the photographer, I couldn’t resist snapping a few of Lauren and Garron on their special day at Meerendal Wine Estate.
